7. Location recce checklist


Every recce is different, locations vary enormously and so do production needs. Think of the people involved in the shoot

      Production team, Imagine what they need to know and what will make the day easier for them. If you do that and take notes it’ll be a rigorous recce!

Look at your location in terms of: Active the location is / Times / Space / Legal Issues.
Access for actors, crew, equipment All equipment available
Get details of the nearest Hospital with A and E St Thomas Hospital
Toilets, shelter,food Toilet available, Food available, shelter available
Lighting: Windows, available light, power sources, sunset/sunrise light Box available

Street lights nearby

Indoor lighting

Power sources available.


What noise is there, traffic, people, airplanes

Tatemodern: people speeking, walking past talking

Southwark Bridge: traffic noise, cyclists, people, street performences

Bank: Buses

Health and safety issues: dangers to crew and the public N/A
Director’s requirements – shots, colour, aesthetics Different shot angles

Lighting angles

Your recommendations and preferences N/A
